Welcome & Prayer

In attendance:  Michelle Beare, Rose Andy, Kelly Watkins, Marie Cummings, Lynn Fox

Past Events

Gingerbread House Nite – 66 houses made, very little donations

Due to low amounts of donations (graham crackers, powdered sugar, etc.) for this event, we decided that with the increase in G-bread budget for 2009, that we

would just purchase all necessary items ourselves and supplement with monetary donations from that night.  We don’t want to overtax the congregation for donations at that time of year – also doing Op. Chr. Child, food drives, etc.

Christmas Program – THANKS Sheila and Kelly!

What’s in store for next year?!?  This was a great success and well run.  Excellent idea to have it on a Sunday morning (to pack out the church!)

Only concern:  there are many children that participated in the program that we have not seen again in church since then.  Where did they go and did we let them get away?

BYOF Nights – maybe next year?

A good idea, but unable to carry out as Michelle and Darlene were both physically injured L.  Will look into for next winter – plan ahead to advertise during Christmas season.

Reports

                   KIDZone – Rose Andy

*Up to 3-4 volunteers per week – able to split the kids into small groups after the

DVD for crafts, discussion, or activities.

*Behavioral issues have been addressed, but still working on the “no dismissal

until released to a parent” issue.

*Name tags are now made out of foam and weekly volunteers are asked to lay

them out on the table and have the kids find their name when they come in.

*A donation for 20 Bibles is coming in to help emphasize finding the weekly

verses in Scripture.

*Always more volunteers needed!  Know of anyone???

Volunteers &

                   Safe Place – Marie Cummings

*Will be going into Greenview 101 classes to promote ministry involvement and

how to fill out clearance forms quickly and correctly.

*A few more clearances have trickled in, and a few are still being held for final copies are turned in.

*Volunteer issue  (KIDZone and nursery) to be addressed at next Board meeting so that the Elders can address it with the congregation.  Next step would be for the CE team/Child. Min. team to follow through.

*CE training for those in leadership teaching positions still being worked on – most likely looking to fall 2009 – we would be a host site for all C&MA churches in the area.

                   2009 budget/2008 budget

Most of our line items have been increased (PTL!)  We were pretty close for

2008, but had no treasurer reports to cross-reference with the Child. Min. records.  Hopefully this will occur in 2009.

God (and the rest of Greenview!) has been very gracious to us in this area!

Vision casting– ideas? 1-3 years, 3-5 years, 5-10 years, 10 + years

Still looking for ideas to look to the future.  Need to take time at a meeting to do this and discuss it in length.

                   Family Bible Study

*Look to do in July 2009 for a family study in the mornings (parent must be present)

*Michelle will teach if less intensive

Items for Discussion and Planning

NOTE:  how do we address the issue of so many new families/visitors and make

them feel welcome and a part of our fellowship?

Other new ideas brought up: Book club for moms (during day)

This may be addressed with OASIS?

                                                                   Outreach events

Not sure about what this meant.

                                                                   Parenting course

Winter 2010, if Michelle doesn’t drop the “ball”

                                                                                                again!

Christian Ed. Sunday promotion

Marie will address this at the next Board meeting so that children are promoted together at a set time and it is made a big deal

AWANA - brought up by Kelly

*Kelly willing to coordinate and work on getting this program on its feet at Greenview.

*Decided that it would be wise to do a known program, so that the outreach effect will be positive (many people outside of the church will look for a program that they know and have heard of).  *Program is 1 ½ hrs. and includes game time, Bible study time, Scripture memorization, and awards.  *National support and networking is available to get the program started and maintained.

*Look to begin program in fall on Sunday afternoon/evenings.

*There will be some issues to address with the Board and/or trustees.

*Need to get young families/parents on board to form a core group of volunteers and adults with passion for this program.

*Only concern:  there are 2 other C&MA churches in the area doing AWANA – will this cause “competition” between churches?  There are “Olympics” that multiple churches could compete in, to help form healthy bridges between programs.  We want to be pro-active and not let silly issues divide churches.  Check into this and think how this may affect others.

*Now could be the time to get this up and going - God is good!
